How Our Spring Washers Are Used in the Renewable Energy Industry
Braking Systems
Stacks of Borrelly Belleville disc springs, are commonly used in hydraulic disc brakes in nacelle inlets (generator or main shaft). They maintain a constant braking pressure, even in the event of temperature variation or wear, and provide a return force when the brake shoes disengage.
Securing Main Bearings
Placed in the interface between the main shaft and the bearings, our Belleville disc springs compensate for play due to thermal expansion and apply a constant axial force to secure the mounting of roller or tapered bearings.
Resistance to Marine Environments for Floating Wind Turbines
Floating wind turbines installed on the seaside impose extreme constraints in terms of corrosion, humidity and salinity. For these applications, Borrelly designs spring washers in stainless steel or Inconel, capable of withstanding these aggressive environments in the long term. The choice of materials is precisely defined by our Engineering & Design Department according to the specific mechanical and environmental requirements of the project.
Mechanical Reliability in Dams
Dams require robust components, capable of operating in the long term without decreasing their performance. Our stacked Belleville disc springs absorb loads and deformations while maintaining constant pressure in critical joints. Made of stainless steel, they guarantee optimum resistance to the humidity and chemical aggression found in hydraulic environments.
