Borrelly Ondufil Single Turn Wave Springs

borrelly ondufil single turn wave spring

Designed for applications with low-to-medium forces and short deflections, Borrelly’s single turn wave springs are suitable for a variety of uses and technical needs.

We provide gap and overlap type wave springs of the highest quality and available in a large selection of bore and rod diameters, thicknesses, load tolerances and number of waves.

Our single turn wave spring washers can be ordered from stock among our standard and precision ranges, available in both carbon and stainless steel from 10mm to 500mm diameters, or custom-made upon request.

Custom single turn wave springs

Thanks to its extensive experience and technical expertise, our Engineering & Design Department can help you in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of custom single turn wave springs meeting your technical requirements, whether they are for protypes, limited series or large runs. Our production workshop, fully integrated with production equipment designed and developed by Borrelly, can produce your own custom wave spring in a very short amount of time.

Technical description

Single turn wave springs are a type of spring washers made of flat wire simultaneously rolled and corrugated during the manufacturing process. They can either have split ends (gap type) or overlapping ends (overlap type). Both types can be centered in a bore and even allow a slight tightening.

Single turn wave springs such as the Ondufil can be used as an alternative to wave washers when a constant diameter is required. Regardless of the crushing height, their diameters will not change.

Our wave springs are the ideal choice when facing narrow radial wall dimensions with low clearances or when ball or roller bearings need to be accommodated. They provide gains in axial space and can help significantly reduce the number of mechanisms of an assembly.

  • It fits into highly limited axial and radial spaces
  • It can support a large range of forces and thrust loads
  • It generates minimal material waste
  • It comes in a large selection of diameters, thicknesses, materials and finishes
  • Its manufacturing process is particularly adapted to the production of large and very large series
  • We have 90+ years of experience as a wave spring manufacturer

Single turn wave springs are a trusted solution for many cases of applications. Here are some examples.

Bearing preload

One of their main applications is the preloading of ball bearings. They are indeed used to eliminate play between the ball bearings and the bearings’ inner and outer races. These wave springs contribute to prolonging bearing life, reducing vibration and minimizing bearing noise. By exerting constant pressure on one of the two rings, they allow for the balls to be in contact with the bearing and thus prevent vibrations. They are commonly used to compensate play in the clearance of electric engines, pumps as well twist lock connectors.

Locking of rings

Single turn wave spring washers are also used in bayonets multi-pin connectors to assume a locking function on the ring and prevent the quarter turn ring from vibrating and loosening.
